Construction starts on HBIS Shigang’s steelmaking plant

Shijiazhuang Iron & Steel Co (Shigang), a subsidiary of Hebei Iron & Steel Group (HBIS) in Shijiazhuang city, North China’s Hebei province, has started constructing its new steelmaking plant, a key part of Shigang’s relocation plan, a Shigang official confirmed on Tuesday.
The steelmaking plant, whose commencement ceremony was held on July 10, will include two 130-tonne electric arc furnaces (EAFs) with 2 million tonnes/year of steelmaking capacity in total, according to the official.
