NBS: China’s Jan-Oct steel output grows 7.4% on year

China’s crude steel production continued to grow over January-October, rising by 7.4% on year to 829.2 million tonnes, but the year-on-year growth was 1 percentage point lower compared with the 8.4% yearly growth recorded for the first nine months, according to the latest statistics released by the country’s National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) on November 14.
October production alone saw this year’s first year-on-year
decline in crude steel output, with the tonnage down 0.6% on year to 81.5
million tonnes, the NBS data showed. Average daily crude steel output for
October also slipped for a second month to hit a seven-month low of 2.63
million tonnes/day, down 4.7% on month.
