Chinese mills arrange maintenance plans on poor demand

The softening of market demand for steel in winter, particularly for long products, has encouraged Chinese steelmakers to arrange intensive maintenance programmes, market sources shared on Friday, with stoppages already begun at some producers.
Mysteel’s latest investigation showed that in December or early January, 26 Chinese steel producers had announced or were already implementing maintenance on 29 facilities, mostly blast furnaces, bar mills and wire rod facilities.
