CISA: China’s mid-Feb daily steel output at 4.5-month low

Daily crude steel output among the 97 major steelworks members of the China Iron and Steel Association (CISA) slipped further over the middle ten days of February, with the average tonnage seeing a larger decline of 104,500 tonnes/day or 5.4% from the average for early February to reach 1.84 million t/d, according to the association’s latest release on February 25. This was the lowest after the rate of 1.8 million t/d the CISA mills averaged in late September 2019.
Based on the production data for its member mills, the association estimated that daily crude steel production for the whole country averaged 2.5 million t/d over February 11-20, down another 110,500 t/d or 4.2% from that for early February, while the decrease was 2 percentage points higher against with the 2.2% dip over the
