WEEKLY: China’s mills continue to hike steel FOB offers

Chinese steel mills raised their steel export offers last week and again this week, even though domestic steel prices have started showing signs of weakening and when global demand is not so strong, Mysteel Global has learned.
On the top of $5-15/tonne on-week rise which mills tabled last week, “most are expecting a further $15-20/t increase this week again,” a steel trader based in South China’s Guangdong province observed. “I really wonder how they can raise the price, given that overseas demand is not strong,” she commented.
