Baowu as 1st Chinese mill to target carbon neutral by 2050

China Baowu Steel Group (Baowu), the world’s and the country’s top steel producer, has been the first in China’s steel industry to pledge realizing carbon neutral by 2050, or ten years ahead of China’s targeted timeline as a country, Chen Derong, Baowu’s chairman, disclosed in an interview with China’s media.
To bring forward the carbon neutral deadline, the steel giant also aims to reach its carbon emission peak by 2023, or seven years earlier than the target for China as a nation, and then it will reduce carbon emission by 30% by 2035, Chen shared in a live interview
