Hebei’s steel PMI grows further to 53.6 in April

ABSTRACT

The Purchasing Managers’ Index for the steel industry in North China’s Hebei province, the country’s top steel production base, climbed again in April to reach 53.6, growing by another 1.2 basis points on month thanks to firm end-user demand, according to the latest release by the Hebei Metallurgical Industry Association on May 1.
The province’s steel PMI was8.2 basis points higher compared with that for the whole country’s steel industry last month, indicating the better performance of Hebei’s steel industry. “The pace of expansion among downstream manufacturing industries is being maintained, boosting the demand for steel products both at home and abroad,” Chi Guiyou, the association’s secretary general highlighted,
