Taiwan CSC’s May carbon steel sales up 2.4% on month


China Steel Corp (CSC), Taiwan’s top integrated steel producer, posted a recovery in its carbon steel sales in May from a short-lived decrease in April, with the tonnage up 2.4% on month and 12.6% higher on year to 822,458 tonnes, mainly due to the robust demand in and out of Taiwan, a company official confirmed on Friday.
Last month, steel demand in Taiwan remained solid as the continuing recovery in local economy boosted many downstream steel-consuming industries including construction, automobile and machinery manufacturing, Mysteel Global noted.
