NDRC: Coal supply to power houses in China catches up


Thanks to notably higher coal production, China’s thermal coal supply to power plants has exceeded their consumption, according to the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC). On August 10, total coal supply to these plants under unified deployment by the state grid had reached 7.4 million tonnes, a record high for summer, while coal consumption slid 300,000 tonnes from the previous peak level to 7.2 million tonnes the same day, the NDRC said on Wednesday.
On August 10, coal production from Shanxi, Shaanxi and Inner Mongolia, the three core coal-mining regions located in North and Northwest China, had increased by nearly 800,000 tonnes/day on month, NDRC noted, saying that the country’s coal supply was expected to continue picking up, thanks to the commissioning of coal
