WEEKLY: China’s steel exports still tepid on slack demand

Chinese steel export activity remained dull last week, because demand from the ASEAN region, the major destination for Chinese steel, remained slack even though some countries are gradually relaxing virus-response measures, Mysteel’s latest weekly report shows.
“Major buying countries in ASEAN are not yet free of the disruptions caused by COVID-19 lockdowns or other control measures and these continue to dampen market sentiment,”a Shanghai-based market source observed. “Even though local steel stocks are low, buying interest is not so strong,”she added.
