NBS: China’s CPI up 0.6%, PPI up 6.2% over Jan-Aug


By August, China’s Producer Price Index (PPI) for Industrial Products grew faster by 6.2% on year against the 5.7% for the first seven months, while the on-year growth in its Consumer Price Index (CPI) remained at 0.6% on year, as the former gained further on month by 0.7% in August while the latter inched up merely 0.1% on month, according to the latest data from the country’s National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) on September 9.
“Higher prices of coal, petrochemical products and steel in August contributed to higher rises in PPI,” Dong Lijuan, senior statistician of NBS was quoted commenting in an analysis.
