WEEKLY: China’s steel exports remain tepid, prices rise

ABSTRACT

Chinese steel export volumes remained tepid during and after the National Day holiday week over October 1-7, market sources said on October 12. Steel export prices continue to gain in tandem with rising domestic steel prices, making exporting even harder, they said.
“The (export) market is quite quiet, for almost all kinds of steel products,”an official with a major steelmaker based in Northeast China commented, suggesting several factors are causing the export business to gradually cool down during this half.
