Japan’s Aug finished carbon steel sales up 7.3% on year


In August, Japan’s finished carbon steel sales both at home and abroad rose by 7.3% on year to about 4.93 million tonnes, and the volume for January-August added up to 40.58 million tonnes, or up 12.2% on year, according to the release by the Japan Iron & Steel Federation (JISF) on October 18, illustrating better demand in and out of the country, a JISF official commented.
The August sales was down 4.5% on month, and fell to below 5 million tonnes for the first time since February, which was of little surprise to the the JISF official, as Japan’s steel sales usually decline on month in August due to fewer working days. Besides, the latest wave of COVID-19 cases
