WEEKLY: China SiMn output reverses down as profits fall


Chinese silicomanganese output reversed down over November 19-25 as smelters reacted to shrinking profit margins, respondents to Mysteel's latest survey said. Daily output among the 121 Chinese smelters regularly sampled averaged 25,801 tonnes/day, down 1,548 t/d or 5.7% on week and bringing an end to the continuous rally over the prior six weeks.
After noting the steady slide in domestic SiMn prices, many smelters in Southwest China's Guangxi decided to stop work and conduct maintenance last week as they wanted to avoid losing more money, with SiMn output retreating as a result, Mysteel Global noted.   As of November 26, the national price of 6517
