ABSTRACT

In 2021, China's top three steelmaking provinces - Hebei, Jiangsu, and Shandong - contributed to 40.8% of the country's total crude steel production, or down substantially from the 44.5% in 2018 when China completed the excess steel capacity cuts, according to the data Mysteel has retrieved from the country's National Bureau of Statistics (NBS).
The drop in contribution by the three was an outcome of a few factors, as last year all the steelmaking provinces higher in the ranking in terms of steel output, under the scrutiny of Beijing especially in the latter half of last year, had been rather conscious of their steel
