Wen’an Steel’s Malaysia steel project progressing

A greenfield steel project in East Malaysia backed by Chinese interests is progressing, albeit very slowly, suggests a recent post by the project’s prime contractor, Metallurgical Corporation of China. MCC was announcing that it had just visited the planned site for the works in Sarawak, and had exchanged views with local officials, Mysteel Global notes.
Driving the project is a Wuhan-based longs and flats producer named Wen’an Iron & Steel Co (Wen’an Steel) which MCC said was planning a “smart integrated steelworks” in Malaysia hosting 5 million tonnes/year of crude steel capacity, 2 million t/y coking capacity, 1 million t/y cold-rolling capacity and 1 million
