WEEKLY: China's rebar output falls 7% before CNY holiday


Rebar production among the 137 Chinese steelmakers Mysteel surveys including both integrated mills and re-rollers fell significantly over January 13-19, down 7.3% or 208,000 tonnes after gaining for three straight weeks, to reach a 3.5-month low of 2.64 million tonnes, Mysteel's latest survey showed.
The steep decline was mainly due to the fact that many electric-arc-furnace (EAF) mills and re-rollers have commenced maintenance for the upcoming Chinese New Year (CNY) holiday over January 31-February 6. Some EAF mills have also seen margin losses due to high-priced steel scrap, Mysteel Global noted.   Over the latest survey
