2025 OilChem APAC Oil and Gas Conference

Energy

The 2025 OilChem APAC Oil and Gas Conference, taking place on Monday, September 8 in Singapore, will bring together senior experts, industry leaders, and strategic stakeholders to examine China’s evolving role in the global oil and gas landscape, as 2025 marks the drafting year of the 15th Five-Year Plan.

Background

Global geopolitical flux persists: The Russia-Ukraine conflict continues, US-China trade friction escalates (with US tariffs citing fentanyl concerns and Chinese countermeasures shifting resource flows), and Middle East tensions threaten Hormuz Strait navigation. Amidst international oil and gas market pressures, China's role as a major consumer raises two critical questions: To what extent has intensive price volatility transmitted to its domestic market, and how closely is China market's supply and demand dynamics correlated with global fundamentals?

During H1, the countries of the ASEAN region remained collectively China's largest trade partners, with trade value between China and the region swelling by 9.6% on year to Yuan 3.67 trillion, accounting for 16.9% of the total value. As for China's commodity imports over January-June, in volume terms those of iron ore, natural gas, and coal declined by 3%, 7.8% and 11.1% respectively on year to 592.2 million tonnes, 59.55 million tonnes and 221.7 million tonnes. In contrast, the country's crude oil imports ticked up by 1.4% on year to 279.4 million tonnes, the Customs statistics indicated.

This pivotal event will convene industry players to explore emerging trends, foster cross-supply chain collaboration, and create business opportunities. Position yourself to seize competitive advantage and navigate the evolving market landscape.
