GACC: China's Oct thermal coal imports surge 32% YoY

China's thermal coal imports in October remained robust at 35.15 million tonnes, soaring 31.9% compared to the same month last year, according to new data from the General Administration of Customs of China (GACC).

The October result also stood as the second monthly highest since January 2009, dipping by 2.4% from the record high set in September, Mysteel Global noted. However, the on-year surge in coal imports last month was driven more by price than demand, since September and October are typically off-peak
