Toyota output targets a lift for Japanese steelmakers

Japanese steelmakers producing automotive sheet and the coil centers that process it, will be cheered by news that Toyota Motor expects its domestic production through till July to be steady, with industry pundits even suggesting the target could be revised upwards given the car company's huge backlog of orders.

For May, the company had earlier revised its monthly production volume downward by 1% from its previous plan to approximately 250,000 units over 18 days of operations, as Mysteel Global had previously reported, equivalent to under 14,000 units/day.
