Japan's Aug scrap exports up 14% MoM but still inactive

Japan's exports of ferrous scrap in August totaled 495,632 tonnes, 13.9% higher on month, though the volume had been below 500,000 tonnes for the third consecutive month, according to the data released by Trade Statistics of Japan on September 28.
Significantly, Japan's August scrap exports were down by a hefty 46.9% on year, and those over January-August approximated 4.07 million tonnes, being 23.7% lower on year.   Among Japan's total scrap exports in August, the largest item was heavy scrap under HS Code 7204.49.100, including H2, H1 and HS grade materials
