Hindalco recently published its financial report for the Q2 of fiscal year 2023, which ended September 30, 2022, showing that the company's aluminum upstream business EBITDA decreased by 57% YoY to INR 13.47 billion, and the revenue increased by 11% YoY to INR 82.15 billion. In addition, the EBITDA of aluminum downstream business rose 163% YoY to INR 2 billion, and the revenue increased 13% YoY to INR 28.84 billion.
In terms of production and sales, the company's primary aluminum output increased 3% YoY to 332,000 tons, and the shipment volume of primary aluminum decreased 3% to 341,000 tons, including 245,000 tons of third-party shipment (vs. 253 kt) , and 96,000 tons to its downstream business(vs. 97 kt).
In the Q2, the output of alumina increased 13% YoY to 900,000 tons, including 576,000 tons from the Utkal, and the 350,000 ton expansion project of Utkal is underway. The output of aluminum downstream products ( rolled products, foils and extrusions) increased 5% YoY to 88,000 tons , and the sales volume increased 11% to 95,000 tons.
