CNOOC has basically completed construction work on the first phase of its Zhangzhou LNG terminal in South China's Fujian province, and plans to start commercial operations in April 2023, according to news from CNOOC.
The first phase of the terminal will see the construction of three 160,000 cubic meters storage tanks allowing the facility to handle up to 3 million t/y of LNG, equipped with a maximum capacity of 270,000 cubic meters of LNG berth (equivalent to 150,000 dwt).
The terminal, located in Zhangzhou city of Fujian province, is constructed in two phases with a total handling capacity of 6 million t/y of LNG. It is the 6th major Chinese LNG terminal of CNOOC.
At present, construction work of the first two 160,000 cubic meters storage tanks has entered the final stage, and the expansion of the other 160,000 cubic meters storage tank is progressing in an orderly manner.
In addition, Fujian also makes efforts to push the Hanas Putian LNG terminal project, which has been approved by the National Development and Reform Commission.
The project involves construction of a world class LNG import terminal at the Meizhou Bay area near Putian city, Fujian province. It will build a dedicated LNG berth and two 200,000 cubic meters LNG storage tanks, equipped with supporting processes, public works and auxiliary engineering facilities, with an annual receiving capacity of 5.65 million t/y.
The construction unit of Hanas Putian LNG terminal is Putian Hanas LNG Company, founded in August 2014, is 100% owned by Shanghai Hanas Energy Development Company.
Before this, CNOOC Fujian LNG terminal is the only terminal in Fujian province, with a receiving capacity of 6.3 million t/y, including six 160,000 cubic meters LNG storage tanks and a maximum capacity of 215,000 cubic meters LNG berth.
The completion of the two LNG terminals will further enhance the natural gas supply and storage capacity in Fujian Province and surrounding areas in southern China.
