Chaozhou Huaying LNG terminal, jointly owned by Huaying Investment Holding Group and Sinopec Gas Company, was expected to start operation by the end of 2023, which marks that Sinopec will start its first LNG terminal in South China's Guangdong province soon, learned from OilChem.
Located in Chaozhou city of Guangdong province, the terminal was approved for construction in July 2019 and commenced construction in December 2020, including three 200,000 cubic meters LNG storage tanks, one 217,000 cubic meters LNG ship unloading berth, one workboat dock and supporting engineering facilities, with maximum LNG processing capacity of 6 million t/y. By the operation of the terminal in end 2023, there will be up to 7 LNG terminals in Guangdong province, accounting for 28% of the total in China, according to OilChem.
The second phase was listed into Guangdong 14th Five-Year-Plan for Energy Sector, adding ten 220,000-270,000 cubic meters LNG storage tanks and supporting facilities. Total receiving capacity will reach 12 million t/y after the expansion project is completed, learned from OilChem.
At present, there are 6 LNG terminals in Guangdong province, including PipeChina Jieyang LNG terminal, Shenzhen Diefu CNOOC LNG terminal, CNOOC Zhuhai Jinwan LNG terminal, JOVO Dongguan LNG terminal, Shenzhen LNG terminal, and CNOOC Dapeng LNG terminal, with a total receiving capacity of 18.4 million t/y, accounting for 16.52% of China's total. At the same time, LNG import volume of Guangdong province was 18.55 million tonnes in 2022, occupying 29.75% of total imports in China, data from OilChem showed.
