Nanshan Aluminum announced on April 24 that it plans to invest 6.063 billion yuan to build a 250kt/a aluminum smelter, a 260kt/a anode project and support facilities in Indonesia. According to the plan, the construction of this project will be completed in 2026.
The investment will effectively utlilize its 2 MTPA alumina capacity in the Bintan industrial park and reduce the cost of aluminum prodution. This move will enhance Nanshan Aluminum's profitability of its overseas bussiness. Its 2 MTPA alumina refinery, PT.Bintan Alumina Indonesia, has been fully commissioned by the end of 2022.
Before this move overseas, Nanshan Aluminum announced to transfer its 336 ktpa aluminum capacity in Shandong, accounting for 41% of its total aluminum capacity. The transference has been completed by March. After the company close all these cells, its aluminum smelting capacity will be 480kt/a. Nanshan also has a 1.6 MTPA alumina refinery in Shandong. In the downstream, the company has extrusion and FRP sectors, which are also located in Shandong.
