On August 17th, the EU Battery and Recycled Battery Regulations, which have been officially announced by the EU for 20 days, will officially come into effect. According to the law, starting from 2027, power batteries exported to Europe must hold a "battery passport" that meets the requirements, recording the manufacturer, material composition, carbon footprint, supply chain, and other information of the battery. This will have a significant impact on Chinese power battery companies exporting to Europe.
The industry believes that after the implementation of the New Battery Law, Chinese battery companies exporting to Europe must overcome at least three challenges: firstly, to supplement and improve the carbon footprint statement; The second is to meet the EU's requirements for the recycling and reuse of battery materials; The third challenge is to address the disclosure of information in battery passports.
