The import volume of styrene butadiene rubber (SBR) reached 28,830.27 tonnes in China in July 2023, up 3.32% on month and 12.62% on year, with cumulative imports of 212,397.20 tonnes over January-July, jumped by 9.30% year-on-year. Meanwhile, the export volume was 12,476.50 tonnes in July, up 8.40% from last month and 22.94% from last year, with its cumulative exports hitting 95,519.40 tonnes from January to July, surged by 64.52% on year.

July SBR import volume inched up from last month, mainly due to its tight supply and high prices in China, coupled with slightly declining prices in foreign markets.
Russia's SBR resources still ranked first in Chinese imports owing to its low price advantage.

Compared with last month, Vietnam overtook Thailand as the leading export destination. China's SBR exports have improved markedly compared with previous years and will still remain high in later stage, as downstream markets of this industry chain have been gradually transferred to Southeast Asia in recent years.
