Tin Industry Production Supply

China's refined tin output was up by 0.69% month on month but down by 30.22% year on year to 10,245 tonnes in August, and the accumulative output from January to August increased by 1.18% year on year to 102,971 tonnes, according to Mysteel's survey of 20 refined tin smelters with a 0.31 million tonnes capacity and 97% coverage of the total. The expected output is around 15,500 tonnes in September since most smelters may maintain normal production because the supply of tin ore is abundant in the short term and the TCs may increase. However, some secondary smelters are in short supply of raw materials. Moreover, if the ban on mining in Myanmar continues for a long time, the supply of tin ore will be tight.

Although most smelters in Yunnan maintained normal production, the total refined tin output still reduced significantly month on month, because some smelters resumed production from maintenance in late August. However, the output in Guangxi increased significantly, due to the completion of maintenance. Due to the increased supply of imported tin ore in the early period this August, primary refined tin output increased, meanwhile, secondary tin smelters remained normal production, so there was a slight increase in regional total output in Jiangxi. Besides, the short supply of raw materials affected by the technical transformation of Yinman Mining slightly decreased refined tin output in other regions in August.
