Recently, Toyota and Idemitsu Kosan announced that they will cooperate in the mass production of all solid-state batteries for pure electric vehicles, with the goal of bringing all solid-state batteries into practical use from 2027 to 2028.
At present, both parties have jointly formed a R&D team consisting of many experts to focus on researching and developing this new type of battery. Idemitsu Kosan is Japan's second largest oil company and a designated supplier of engine oil for many automotive companies. The solid sulfide electrolyte jointly released this time is a key material for manufacturing all solid-state batteries.
