PVC output increased on high capacity utilization rate. According to OilChem, the capacity utilization rate of PVC producers reached 80.86% this week, up 1.25 percentage points from last week and up 2.27 percentage points year-on-year. Among them, the capacity utilization rate of PVC producers based on calcium carbide process was 80.53%, up 0.83 percentage points from last week and up 2.40 percentage points year-on-year, while that of PVC producers based on ethylene process was 81.53%, up 2.47 percentage points from last week and up 1.58 percentage points year-on-year.

As for regions, the capacity utilization rate obviously improved in East China, mainly owing to resumption of unit of Suzhou Huasu Plastics, while that in North China inched down due to decreasing operating rate of Shanxi Ruiheng Chemical, Qingdao Haiwan Chemical and other producers.

Besides, according to published maintenance plan, 1.84 million tonnes/year PVC capacity will be shut down for maintenance in the next 2 months and more units will be overhauled in the future due to expected advanced spring maintenance on poor profits of chlor-alkali enterprises and tight ethylene resources.
