Totally 1,215,800 tonnes, China's BOPP output is anticipated to rise by 10.83% year on year in Q1 2024, due to the commissioning of new capacities in December and January, though its February output was obviously dragged down by the intensive maintenance during the Spring Festival holiday, according to data compiled by OilChem.

Moreover, a batch of new capacities, totaling 210,000 tonnes/year, will likely come on stream in H1 2024, with 90,000 t/y in Fujian and 120,000 t/y in Shandong, as per the latest progress of proposed projects learnt by OilChem.
Based on the capacity expansion plans learnt by OilChem, the newly-added capacity of the BOPP industry will total 675,000 t/y in 2024, slightly higher than the 657,600 t/y in 2023, but commissioning implementation might vary according to the follow-up overall industry environment.
