FLASH: N Queensland's coal exports drops 4.8% MoM in Mar
Specifically, the Dalrymple Bay saw a decrease of 13.7% on year in its coal throughput, reaching 4.53 million tonnes, though the volume was largely flat from the 4.52 million tonnes in February.
Coal shipments from Hay Point rose by 1.5% on year and 5.3% on month to reach 3.41 million tonnes, while the coal cargoes leaving Abbot Point dwindled by 2.2% on year to 2.62 million tonnes, which was also 21.6% lower than the previous month.
Over January-March, coal exports from these three Australian ports totalled 31.27 million tonnes, registering a 2.1% growth compared with the same months last year, Mysteel Global calculated based on the NQBP data.
The vast majority of coal exported from these three ports in North Queensland are coking coal, Mysteel Global noted.
