Recently, Volkswagen China announced that the Volkswagen Group has invested 2.5 billion euros to further expand its production and innovation center in Hefei to strengthen local research and development. This move will also accelerate the production of two Volkswagen branded smart electric vehicles jointly developed with Xpeng Motors, with the first model being a mid size SUV, scheduled for production in 2026.
