On April 20th, Chery Automobile signed an agreement with Spanish automotive company Ebro EV Motors to establish a joint venture in Barcelona, Spain to produce electric vehicles(EVs) and create 1,250 job opportunities. Chery will become the first Chinese car company to produce cars in Europe. The production base is located at the former Nissan factory that was closed in 2021 and will begin production of models such as the Omoda 5 this year. It is expected that the annual production will reach 50,000 vehicles by 2027 and 150,000 vehicles by 2029.
