Five South China regions' power use up 10.5% in Q1
The 10.5% growth rate was faster than the 9.8% on-year increase recorded in all power consumption across China during the same period, CSG noted.
The volume of power consumed by these regions' primary, secondary and tertiary industries all increased in Q1, up by 9.6%, 9.4% and 14.1% respectively on year, according to the CSG data. The firm rises of power consumption in all industries reflected a stable development of local economy, Mysteel Global noted.
In particular, manufacturing sector is playing an increasingly important role in supporting economic growth in the five regions, as CSG's data show that power use of the sector in Q1 this year - higher by 9.4% on year - contributed 42.5% to the increase in overall power consumed in these regions, higher by almost ten percentage points from 33.2% in the first quarter of 2019.
In addition, power use by households in the five regions also advanced by 10.4% on year in the March quarter, the same data show.
