China's refined nickel production stood at 24,912 tonnes in April 2024, up 2.05% month on month and 40.87% year on year, per Mysteel survey of 16 sample smelters. The production totaled 96,481 tonnes over January-April, rising 44.18% from last year.

China's refined nickel capacity registered 32,267 tonnes/year as of present, and the operating capacity stood at 29,567 tonnes/year.
In detail, most large and mid-sized nickel smelters maintained normal production in April, while some small-sized ones in East and South China reduced or suspended the production for poor profits.
It is expected that China's refined nickel production will rise 6.37% MoM and 40.88% YoY at 26,500 tonnes in May.
