NBS: China's April coke output falls 7% YoY
The country's coke output in the first four months fell by 2.1% on year to total 158.48 million tonnes, according to NBS data.
Within the total, North China's Shanxi province, the country's top coke-producing heartland, produced 7.2 million tonnes of coke last month, down by 12.2% on year, as coke makers kept capping their production activities in response to losses on coke sales. On a monthly basis, Shanxi's April coke output was 7.5% higher as coke plants' production enthusiasm recovered somewhat from March alongside the rising hot metal production at mills, Mysteel Global learned.
