NBS: China's aluminum output jumps 7% in H1

Total production of primary aluminum across China grew by 6.9% on year to 21.6 million tonnes in the first half of 2024, according to the latest data released by the country's National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) on July 15. For June alone, China produced 3.7 million tonnes of primary aluminum, up 6.2% on year and higher by 0.5% on month, the data showed.

Mysteel's survey among the 102 aluminum Chinese smelters it tracks was in line with the NBS result, as their smelting capacity utilization rate averaged 95.57% in June, rising by 3.1 percentage points on year or edging up 0.3 percentage point from May.
