NEA: China's power usage jumps 9% YoY in Aug, driven by weather

China's electricity consumption during August increased 8.9% on year to 964.9 billion kilowatt-hours (kWh), beating the record of 939.6 kWh created a month earlier, according to data released by the National Energy Administration (NEA) on September 20.
The 8.9% growth, which also dwarfed a 3.9% on-year rise in August 2023, reflected the combined effects of steady economic growth and extreme weather, Mysteel Global noted.     Specifically, power consumed in primary industries, mainly involving agriculture, forestry, animal husbandry, and fishing and aquaculture, totalled 14.9 billion kWh in August, up
