Shandong Weiqiao begins construction on China's largest fine alumina production base

A fine alumina production base with an investment of Yuan 25.62 billion ($3.5 billion) is under construction in Binzhou in East China’s Shandong province, by Weiqiao Pioneering Group, the parent company of leading Chinese aluminum producer China Hongqiao Group. The project officially broke ground on February 24, Mysteel reported.

The production base will comprise nano-alumina and high-purity ultra-fine alumina production lines. Once completed, it will have an alumina production capacity of 8 million tonnes, including more than 1 million tonnes of fine alumina.

Regarded as the largest and most advanced fine alumina production base in China, the project integrates green, smart and high-end technologies. It marks a significant step in the transformation of the traditional aluminum industry toward multi-purpose alumina new materials, according to the Mysteel report.
