GEM announced that the company signed a strategic cooperation agreement with ECOPRO and its subsidiary ECOPRO BM in Pohang, South Korea on April 9, 2025. Both parties agreed to jointly build the Indonesia International Green Industrial Park and establish a core supply chain for the secondary battery materials industry covering nickel resources, precursor, and cathode materials.
The announcement states that both parties have agreed to establish an infrastructure service company to operate the IGIP park, and ECOPRO will participate in the company with a shareholding share of no more than 20%. Both parties will build the first and second phase cathode material factories with an annual production capacity of about 50,000 tonnes, as well as the third phase cathode material factory with an annual production capacity of about 100,000 tonnes, to achieve an annual production capacity of about 200,000 tonnes of cathode materials per year. Among them, the first phase will produce cathode materials by the end of 2026.
