Trump hints at approving Nippon Steel-USS 'partnership'

As June 5 looms for making his formal decision, US President Donald Trump on Friday hinted that he would allow Japan's largest steelmaker Nippon Steel Corp to buy into Pittsburgh PA-headquartered United States Steel Corp (U.S. Steel), a compromise for the deal the two steelmakers had announced in December 2023 but which has not progressed, largely because of US domestic politics.
