Recently, the Ganzhou High-Tech Industrial Development Zone in Jiangxi Province issued a preliminary approval notice for the environmental impact assessment (EIA) report of Ganzhou Tengyuan Cobalt's Comprehensive Utilization Project for Annual Processing of 20,000 Tonnes of Battery Waste.
The project, with a total investment of Yuan 44.5 million, is located in Ganzhou City, Jiangxi Province, covering a land area and total building area of 3,000 square meters each. The main construction includes core production facilities such as workshops, storage and logistics areas for battery materials, cathode sheets, and finished products, utility systems like water supply and power supply, Environmental protection facilities for waste gas, wastewater, noise, and solid waste treatment.
The project does not include a laboratory but will primarily procure battery processing equipment and cathode sheet crushing machinery. Upon completion, it will have an annual processing capacity of 20,000 tonnes of battery scrap.
The project uses retired ternary lithium-ion battery cells, 3C battery cells, and cathode sheets as raw materials, and recycles battery black mass, copper powder, aluminum powder, and iron sheets through a series of process.
