According to data from the General Administration of Customs of the People's Republic of China (GACC), China's lithium iron phosphate (LFP) exports recorded 1,151.7 tonnes in April, down 15.8% month on month (MoM) but surging 1,710.15% compared with the same period last year.
In detail, the LFP exports from Guangxi Province to Vietnam stood at 968 tonnes, taking up 84% of China's total exports primarily because VinFast, a Vietnamese electric vehicle manufacturer under Vingroup, the country's largest private conglomerate, has established a LFP battery factory jointly with Chinese battery cell manufacturer locally, which relies on China's LFP cathode due to limited domestic capacity.

China's LFP imports have been minimal, which stood at merely 8.6 tonnes in April, or 46.54 tonnes over January-April 2025.
