From May 19 to 31, Shanghai Ganglian E-Commerce Holdings Co., Ltd. (Mysteel) organized its 4th Indonesia Nickel Industry Chain Field Study, a 13-day visit aimed at exploring local development and cooperation opportunities across the nickel value chain in Indonesia.

Between May 25 and 28, the delegation's third stop was the PT Indonesia Weda Bay Industrial Park (IWIP), a major nickel-focused industrial zone located on Halmahera Island in North Maluku Province. Developed by Tsingshan Holding Group, IWIP is the second large-scale industrial park built by the group in Indonesia, following the Morowali Industrial Park (IMIP). The park boasts world-class nickel reserves and is planned to include pyrometallurgical and hydrometallurgical processing lines, as well as a bulk cargo terminal for vessels over 50,000 tonnes, forming a vertically integrated nickel industrial cluster.

PT. Sunny Metal Industry, controlled by Walsin Lihwa Corporation, has been producing 55,000 tonnes of nickel metal annually in the form of nickel matte and NPI since 2023.

PT. Youshan Nickel Indonesia, located in central Halmahera within IWIP, benefits from convenient access to provincial roads and nickel ore export terminals.

PT. Huafei Nickel Cobalt, a joint venture between Zhejiang Huayou Cobalt, Tsingshan Holding Group, and EVE Energy, is deploying the world's most advanced fourth-generation HPAL (High-Pressure Acid Leach) process for laterite nickel ore. The project emphasizes green and eco-friendly design. It is expected to produce 120,000 tonnes of nickel, 15,000 tonnes of cobalt, and 500,000 tonnes of chromite concentrate annually.

PT Indonesia Guang Ching Nickel and Stainless Steel Industry (GCNS), backed by Guangxin Holdings Group, is constructing a hydrometallurgical intermediate product project targeting 80,000 tonnes of nickel and 8,000 tonnes of cobalt annually. As part of Guangxin's strategic transformation toward the new energy materials sector, the project is a key node in the company's broader Indonesian nickel development strategy.
