Premier African Minerals, a mining company, has recommenced the operation of the Zulu lithium-tantalum project in Zimbabwe after improving the recovery rate and grade of spodumene concentrate. The factory resumed operation on July 6th, initially with limited feed capacity. And it expects to start full ore feeding on July 8th, followed by commissioning and optimization of the main spodumene flotation plant in order to enhance lithium recovery rates and product quality.
The mineral resources of the Zulu project are estimated to be 526,000 tonnes of LCE (lithium carbonate equivalent) and 1,025 tonnes of Ta2O5 (tantalum pentoxide). According to the revised agreement signed in 2023, Premier's goal is to supply lithium concentrate to Canmax, including a minimum monthly shipment of 4,000 tonnes starting April 2025.
