On July 17, SK On, the battery manufacturing subsidiary of South Korea's SK Group, announced that it has signed a lithium hydroxide supply agreement with Korean metal refiner EcoPro Innovation.
The company plans to purchase up to 6,000 tonnes of Korean-sourced lithium hydroxide by year-end 2025, which can be sufficient for 100,000 EV batteries. These materials will be processed at Korean cathode material plants and then exported to SK On's battery manufacturing base in the United States. The two companies plan to sign a multi-year supply agreement within 2025, covering 2026–2028, to ensure stable mid-term material procurement.
