The cell factory and battery pack factory of Phase II at CATL's Luoyang base officially commenced production on September 30, according to recent local media reports.
As one of the 13 production bases CATL has established globally, the Luoyang base is being constructed in four phases according to the standards of a Lighthouse Factory & Zero-Carbon Factory.
Since the Phase I project began operations in November 2024, its cumulative output value has exceeded Yuan 10 billion. The Phase II project includes 3 cell production lines and 10 PACK production lines. Upon reaching full capacity, it will add 30 GWh of annual production capacity.
Furthermore, according to the production head of the Luoyang base project, the construction of the third and fourth phases have been completed 60% and 25% respectively.
Upon full completion, the base is expected to stimulate the agglomeration and development of upstream and downstream industries. The project is projected to achieve an annual output value exceeding Yuan 100 billion and drive the formation of a Yuan 200 billion industrial scale by supporting upstream/downstream enterprises and related service industries. This will establish a comprehensive local battery industry chain encompassing cathode materials - structural components - cells - PACK - recycling.
Public information shows that the Luoyang base, CATL's 13th battery plant, broke ground on September 28, 2022. Located in the Yibin District of Luoyang City, the base occupies a planned site area of 1,700 mu (approximately 113 hectares) with a total investment of approximately Yuan 14 billion.
