On December 16, Envision AESC, a global leader in battery technology, announced the commencement of operations at its new battery gigafactory in Sunderland, UK. With an initial planned capacity of 15.8 GWh, the facility will supply high-performance batteries for over 200,000 electric vehicles annually, including models from leading automakers such as Nissan. This plant is now the largest operational battery manufacturing base in the UK to date.
Public records show that Envision AESC has been operating in the UK for over a decade. In 2012, its first battery plant in Sunderland began production, becoming one of Europe's earliest mass-production facilities for automotive batteries. The launch of this new gigafactory will further solidify Envision AESC's leading position in the European market and meet the rapidly growing local demand for EVs.
As one of the earliest and most globally integrated battery technology companies, Envision AESC now operates 14 battery production bases across six countries.
