Tajikistan to build 1.1 mln t/y iron ore concentrating plant
The project will be built in two phases, with the construction of the first phase scheduled to be completed and start operations by 2027 and the second to come online by 2031. Once fully operational, the facility is expected to mine 2.5 million tonnes/year of iron ore and produce 1.1 million tonnes/year of 62%- 65% Fe-grade concentrates, the report noted.
In addition to supplying the domestic market, iron ore concentrates produced from this facility will also largely target export markets, including Kazakhstan, Russia, Uzbekistan, and China, in the future.
The signing of the investment agreement is a significant step towards attracting foreign and domestic direct investment and strengthening Tajikistan's manufacturing and industrial capacity, the report highlighted.
Located in the iron-rich Sughd region, the (CJSC) Tajik Metallurgical Plant is mainly engaged in producing long steel items for construction use, Mysteel Global has learned.
